Notes: Not to be confused with the Bear Mountain in New York. There are two approaches – a longer 6-mile hike from Mt Riga State Park (Rt 41) or a shorter 3-mile one from the same parking areas on Mt Washington Rd. as the Mt. Fissell hikes.
Situated in the Northwest corner of the state, not far from Mount Frissell, Bear Mountain is the highest peak in the state (but not the highest point). It offers a great hike to the top with wonderful views along the way, particularly in the fall.
