400 Sam’s Point Road
Cragsmoor, NY 12420

Website: https://parks.ny.gov/visit/state-parks/minnewaska-state-park-preserve-sams-point-area

Activities: Hiking, walking, leaf peeping

Last Visit: 2018

Notes: $10 vehicle entry fee – arrive early, parking fills up. Appears to now require a reservation for peak days.

The highlight may be the ice caves, which open in the late spring and can have ice through the early summer, but there are miles of varied and interesting trails through forests, around scenic ponds, across wind swept hills and even passing by a waterfall or two. Nothing is too strenuous, one of our outings my then almost 70 year old mother joined us and we totaled almost 7.5mi for the day.
